Limitorque quarter turn electric actuators are primarily used to motorise ball and butterfly valves. For larger torque requirements a combination of multi-turn actuator and a worm gearbox is used.
Remote operations are typically supported through a two, three, or four-wire discrete I/O connected to an actuator’s integral motor-reversing contactors and torque-limit-switch, plus position-limit-switch interlocks
achieving open-closed automation. Modulating capability, called Modutronic or Multi-Position Control (MPC), can be added to receive a 4-20 mA position reference signal. Advanced control capabilities are standard for Accutronix QX and fieldbus network capabilities are available as an option.
